started off resembling a repeat of Round 3 in Vegas for the Super Modified class STANCE Evo VIII, but after a fairly simple fix things turned around quickly with a great finish.
Having had little-to-no practice time on Saturday due to a small issue with the water pump gasket on the STANCE EVO VIII, all eyes were on us throughout the day on Sunday. And despite that the event had attracted a number of big name tuning shops and high performing cars, it seemed like the event’s announcers and Redline girls were by us more often than not, mingling with our driver and crew, relishing in our car’s wild appearance and impressive performance. After securing a blazing fast 1:27.791 during the Record Assault, on our first and only hot lap of the session, our pit-area started to fill with intrigued spectators, curious members of other crews, and photographers vying to capture a glimpse of the car that had set the fastest time of the day thus far.
The STANCE team was pleased with the results, looking forward to the second timed sessions and a crack at the Autobahn course record, but with isolated thunderstorms in the forecast the weather now came into play. Shortly after the scheduled lunch break and partially into the official time attack session, a series of storms moved in and rain began to fall.
Even though our day was rendered complete with the cancellation of the second Modified and Super Modified timed sessions due to the weather, the STANCE Race Team and a number of STANCE-equipped drivers had finished with spots on the podium. Devin Schultz in his STANCE-equipped Mitsubishi EVO IX finished 2nd place in Enthusiast AWD with a time of 1:39.451: David Zaytsev (right) came in 2nd place with his STANCE-equipped Modified RWD class 350Z running a 1:47.505: Jeff Ricca (unable to appear on podium) took home the 3rd place finish for Super Modified RWD in the STANCE-equipped Ricca Racing Nissan 240SX with a fast lap of 1:36.752. Trent Choi, piloting the Touge Factory/STANCE EVO VIII, ran a 1:27.791 locking in the Super Modified AWD and overall Super Modified class win:
Congrats to Dave, Devin and Jeff for their respective successful finishes; and toTrent Choi and the TF/STANCE Race Team for taking the overall win! Thanks to everyone who came out to help and support us at Redline Time Attack Round 5 at Autobahn! We are very much looking forward to Round 6 at Willow Springs International Raceway, turning up the boost and continuing to establish ourselves as one of the top race teams competing in Redline Time Attack. Until then, enjoy this onboard footage of the STANCE EVO VIII hot lap at Autobahn: |
